After a career as a performing musician and a STEM/STEAM educator, Ruth Catchen, took her collected life experiences and embarked on a real estate career. Ruth saw this as a way to get out in the world, meet people and share from the values and work ethic she learned from previous careers.
Ruth loves teaching others and helping them to be their best self. Her “why” is to help you do what you do and do it better. Deliberate practice, self-discipline and education and training form the foundation of her why along with leaving the world a bit better than the way you found it.
For real estate, Ruth learned how the training needed to be more deliberate. After getting her license and the successive training experiences, she learned what was lacking and set out to make it better by raising the level of professionalism, knowledge, and training needed for new agents. The goal is to make the criteria meet the needs of the tech age and 21st-century capabilities. Ruth experienced every role in real estate: sales, inside sales, showing homes, transaction coordination, marketing, social media, video, and education. Understanding all aspects of the business makes her able to be your guide, coach or mentor in the world of real estate.
Ruth fused her experiences by creating a course that highlights the real estate transaction process for real estate agents in Colorado for six CE credits. Now she is taking this course on the road and it is available digitally for everyone through Kajabi. This course can ignite your process and make your business thrive. In addition, she is available for coaching and offers other courses on self-discipline, growth mindset and rebooting your sales mindset.

Ruth grew up in Pennsylvania and went to college and grad school in Washington, DC. Then she traveled and studied in Italy and moved to New York City. Her time in NYC was influential in shaping her values and work ethic. Starting out as a performing musician taught her much about discipline, deliberate practice, and most of all the standard to which she is accountable. Ruth is the proud single parent to two grown children, both of whom she encouraged to make the world a better place and are doing that. She loves hiking, cycling, traveling to see her kids, wine tasting, museums and has never met a dog she didn’t love.
You can reach Ruth @ [email protected] or message her on her social media channels.

Reboot Your Sales Mindset
This course introduces the concepts from the book The Unsold Mindset, Redefining What It Means To Sell by Colin Coggins and Garrett Brown. It serves to reinforce the learning and understanding of the concepts and practices in the book as they apply to real estate and real estate sales.
The course is arranged with the same chapters as the book. The content and stories that Garrett and Colin share will be used and reinforced with stories and content from Ruth Catchen, who is a real estate education and trainer.
How I learned about the book.
I heard a podcast in which Colin and Garrett were interviewed about their upcoming book. I couldn't wait to read the book. They discussed many of the principles I believe about sales. Since getting my real estate license, the hardest thing to deal with has been the stereotypical idea of what sales is and how I think it has evolved with technology and availability of more education and information to level up consumers.Â
In training others to understand the learning curve of the real estate business, sales, lead generation and closing deals are paramount. Without those tools, you don't have a business! At the same time, I learned from multiple sources about what to do and how to do it. The ideas seemed dated and out of touch. Since I am a consumer, I know how I want to be treated and using old school memoized scripts lacking in sincerity and knowledge was disappointing to say the least. So, as I grew in this role, I kept track of what I needed to know and how it should be implemented for the best outcome. As someone who designed curriculum for good learning outcomes, I couldn't help myself!
The world began to see and dislike the canned and artificial methods people were using to sell. I could see, sense and feel, here it comes. Real estate sales people were told to be AUTHENTIC AND EMPATHETIC. This became cliché. Although based on what I believe is truth, the ones doing the talking seem to have no idea what that mindset should be or how to do it. So, cue Colin and Garrett with detailed information that was well-researched and based on real life data.
When I created my original 99 Steps course for Real Estate agents, it was intended to review the steps needed to fully complete a transaction. The first part of the course teaches all the things that I believe should come first: Mindset, Growth Mindset, What's my Why and problem solving. This protocol fits perfectly into what The Unsold Mindset teaches.Â
This course will be a blend of my ideas and the ideas in the book, but the credit for The Unsold Mindset and its genius goes to Garrett Brown and Colin Coggins. My gratitude for their wisdom and what they bring to help sales people lift their game, is above and beyond. So, enjoy the course, get the book, and go out and have a wonderful, prosperous life!
